Death Without The Funeral
This work is about facile values being confronted by the darkness of dementia. The repeated images of the dementia sufferer and her collection of bells, ducks, eggs and thimbles may give us insight into what dementia is about and how it can affect the sufferer and people around her. The shell of the person that is left indicates to me that there has been a “ Death Without the Funeral “ The Chihuahua dog is a metaphor for those that have celebrity status, goes to jail, takes up “religion” and generally does not have a clue what is happening in the world today. The remaining cast marks on the dog represent their imperfections that they cannot see but we can.
